You know your saddle doesn't quite fit your horse or maybe you know you want to get something custom but you don't know where to start. You consider reaching out but want to know what you're getting for your money (I totally understand). So, what's in a fit with Kristin Bowers of The Western Saddle Fitter?

Well, first things first, I am mobile and independent; this means I come to you and I don't try to sell you on a specific saddle brand. My focus is on the right fit for you and your horse, no matter what, every time.

Fits typically take anywhere from 2-3 hours, dependent on complexity.

This is my standard fitting process:

So, your fit includes:

  • Mapping your horse

  • Taking measurements

  • Creating tracings (that can be used to physically find a new saddle).

If you're in need of a new saddle, the measurement numbers from this help me refer you to specific saddles whose trees would fit your horse best or would also help a custom saddle maker make a saddle to fit your horse.

  • Static and Dynamic fit checks (provided it looks like your saddle can be adjusted) on your existing saddle per you and your horse.

I will provide solutions as appropriate and during the dynamic portion we will adjust to improve fit where I am able.

I carry resources to do so with me when I fit. For all of my fits, I summarize and follow up with findings, including suggested saddle options if looking for a new saddle

  • Upload all media and resources from your fit to a personal google drive link so that you can access it at any time you want or need to.

You keep your tracings and would also get education and instruction on what I am seeing in your fit assessment on your particular horse as well as how to best utilize the resources I provide.

Saddle Fits are $225 in the Treasure Valley (Idaho). Fits outside of the Treasure Valley are subject to mileage fees.

I also travel through Eastern Idaho, Northern Idaho/Eastern Washington/Eastern Oregon, Oregon's Willamette Valley, and Northern Nevada at least twice a year (these fits are currently $250 within range of my designated locations).

Get on the list to schedule a fitting or be notified early when these trips open up here.

Happy Riding,

Kristin Bowers
